DUTSE, Jigawa State — The Jigawa State Government has officially opened tenders for the 2026 constituency projects, inviting bids for the construction of mosques, solar street lights, and other critical infrastructure across the state, with over 40 companies reportedly participating in the bidding process.
The tender opening exercise, which took place at the Government House in Dutse, covered a wide range of projects aimed at improving the welfare of communities and strengthening traditional institutions across the state. According to officials, the projects include the construction of mosques, installation of solar-powered streetlights in various constituencies, and other infrastructure developments designed to enhance the quality of life for residents.
In addition to the constituency projects, the Jigawa State Government has also opened bids for the construction of a new Emir’s Palace in Dutse, a move aimed at strengthening traditional institutions and preserving the rich cultural heritage of the state. The Chairman of the Ministerial Tender Committee and Permanent Secretary, Administration and Finance, Office of the Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Abdullahi Sa’idu, said the project reflects Governor Umar Namadi’s unwavering commitment to the development of traditional institutions as critical partners in promoting peace, stability and social cohesion.
Sa’idu disclosed that renovation works at the Hadejia Emir’s Palace are already progressing steadily, adding that the successful execution of the Dutse Emir’s Palace project would pave the way for the commencement of other major infrastructure developments. He stressed the need for strict adherence to contractual timelines, urging members of the technical evaluation committee to expedite the assessment process to ensure the projects take off without delay.
The Director-General of the Due Process and Project Monitoring Bureau, Professor Kasim Muhammad, assured all participating contractors of a transparent, fair and competitive procurement process. Represented by Abbas Abubakar Umar, he reiterated the government’s commitment to quality and value for money, warning that substandard execution would not be tolerated under any circumstances.
The government has also been pursuing other major infrastructure initiatives, including the approval of N273.29 million for the construction of 20 greenhouses across 10 local government areas to boost youth livelihoods and modern agricultural practices. Additionally, the state has approved compensation for shop owners affected by the remodelling of Kafin Hausa Market and for structures affected by the construction of Doko and Dangyatin township roads.
Speaking on behalf of the bidders, Alhaji Buhari Abubakar commended the Office of the Secretary to the State Government for ensuring a transparent bid-opening process and pledged that participating companies would maintain integrity and excellence throughout the project cycle. The exercise was witnessed by representatives of civil society organisations and other stakeholders, underscoring the government’s commitment to accountability, transparency and public participation in the execution of major development projects.
The state government has also been actively involved in water infrastructure development, with the Jigawa State Small Towns Water Supply and Sanitation Agency inviting bids for the upgrading and conversion of 15 motorized water schemes to solar power across the Jigawa North East and North Central senatorial zones. Similarly, tenders have been opened for the provision and supply of agricultural inputs for dual season irrigation for farmers in the Jigawa North West Senatorial District.
The proposed projects are expected to further enhance the status of communities across Jigawa State while preserving cultural identity and traditional values that remain central to the state’s development aspirations. For now, the state government remains committed to ensuring that the projects are executed to the highest standards, delivering tangible benefits to the people of Jigawa.
