Jonathan’s Almajiri School is just media creation – APC Chieftain

A chieftain of All Progressive Congress (APC), Sunny Moniedafe has stated that Goodluck Jonathan’s Almajiri school is just a media creation adding there is not a single Almajiri school in Abuja.

Moniedafe in an interview with ElombahNews added that there is nothing to show for the much announced Almajiri school established by the former President.

Moniedafe who is a Member, FCT Secondary Education Board, also lamented that there is no single technical school and vocational school in Abuja.

He said, “There was no technical school, no vocational centre in Abuja , the other angle is the Almajiri, I don’t want to talk about it before you start telling me that I want to blame past governments.

“We are talking about Almajiri schools, but, where are they?

“I am in Abuja in the Secondary school education board; I have not seen one single Almajiri school that was built.

“This was just a media creation, they went and did one foundation laying stones in Sokoto state and thereafter declared that they built one Almajiri school for about N5 billion, but there is nothing to show for it.

“We want to create a vocational centre in Abuja where people can become craftsmen.”

Talking about insecurity in the northern region of the country, the APC chieftain blamed the insecurity in the North on Muammar Gadafi’s death which made some of his foot soldiers to spread across West Africa.

He lamented that the porosity of the national borders in the North give free access to some of Gadafi’s men to come into the country and create havoc adding that there are over 1000 foot paths to Nigeria across northern parts of the country alone.

Explaining further, he said these foreigners are creating havoc in the North West because of the goldmines in the Northwest appealing to Nigeria to cooperate with the government especially people living in border communities to deal with the bandits.

He said, “The Islamic fundamentalists are not supported by the mainstream Muslims, before the death of Muammar Gaddafi, he was feeding them and taking care of them.

“There was a warning by Gadafi’s troop that if the UN succeeded in killing Gaddafi, there will be no peace in West Africa.

“When Gaddafi was killed, they all spread across west Africa. Our borders are porous, there are over 1,000-foot paths into Nigeria.

“The government is doing enough, communities across border towns should cooperate with government by informing them of the presence of these terrorists in their communities. They are moving to the North West now because there are borders that are linked to Niger Republic in the region.

“Because of goldmines in the North west, they are moving towards the place and many Nigerians are working with them. It is something to be worried about, Nigerians should cooperate with government and stop blaming the government.”

He added, “The truth is that, these attacks might not be what people say they are, I have talked about this in so many fora in the past.

“With due respect, the media have not helped matters at all, you heard about killings, if killings are done in Borno, Yobe, Zamfara, Katsina, they will tell you that the attacks were done by bandits, but if it is in Adamawa , Taraba, Nasarawa and Benue where there are some predominant Christians, the journalists will tell you it is Fulani herdsmen without a proper investigation.

“Now with due respect to governor of Benue state, before the election, he was all over the media saying that they were being attacked by Fulani herdsmen, but one of his former SSA was exposed to be behind all these killings, shortly after the election, they came out to say, the Tiv and Jukuns have revived their age long fighting and killing of each other.

“Anyone that grew up in the North will remember that, the Tivs and Jukuns are perennial enemies. The way we brand it as herdsmen, we are heating up the polity, we are dividing a wedge among ourselves along religious lines.

“Some priests were killed in Makurdi few days ago, but before daybreak. It was reported that herdsmen killed Catholic priests. I do not think that damage has been corrected till today.

“If journalists can do proper investigation, they will be able to expose the people involved in the killings. We must not allow those wicked people to divide us.

“The bandits in Katsina are the people that are making money from goldmines, we know that a lot of gold and diamond are found in that area. Recently, they spotted a helicopter from five top missions in the world flying into that area.

“So, a lot of wealth and resources are gotten from that place.”
