JUST IN: ADC Deputy Spokesperson Slumps, Dies in Imo

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has been thrown into mourning following the sudden death of its Deputy Publicity Secretary in Imo State, Hon. Ugochimereze Chinedu Asuzu.

Asuzu reportedly slumped and died in the early hours of Wednesday, October 1, 2025.

His passing shocked both political and cultural circles across the South-East.

Before his death, Asuzu was the convener of Ikoro Ndigbo, a respected voice in Igbo sociocultural affairs.

He was also the founder of Igbo Intelligentsia Renaissance, a platform that promoted cultural renewal and intellectual engagement.

The ADC, in a statement signed by its State Publicity Secretary, Chief MacDonald Amadi, described his death as a “huge and irreplaceable loss.”

The party praised his service as a politician, mentor, and community leader.

Asuzu hailed from Umuma Isiaku in Ideato South Local Government Area of Imo State.

He earned degrees in Theology and Political Science and was pursuing a doctorate before his sudden passing.

Beyond politics, he was a theologian, entrepreneur, writer, public affairs analyst, and visiting lecturer.

He also founded I Stand With ADC, a coalition group that mobilised citizens for democratic participation.

He was described as a devoted husband, loving father, and mentor who inspired many in both religious and secular spheres.

“The passing of Chief Asuzu is an irreplaceable loss to his family, the ADC family, and the larger Nigerian society,” the statement read.

His death adds to the list of sudden political losses in recent months, highlighting the fragility of life in Nigeria’s heated political environment.
