(DDM) The Coalition for the Protection of Democracy (COPDEM) has announced the schedule for its highly anticipated 2025 End-of-Year General Meeting, inviting all registered members across Nigeria and the diaspora to participate in what organisers describe as a decisive gathering for the movement’s future.
According to DDM findings, the meeting will hold on Sunday, December 14, 2025, beginning at 8:00 p.m. Nigerian time. The timing, according to organisers, is intended to maximise participation from members both at home and abroad.
The event is structured as a virtual assembly and will take place on Zoom using Meeting ID 871 4708 3260 and Passcode 606697. COPDEM also included a direct access link to ensure ease of entry for attendees and to eliminate technical barriers.

The coalition emphasised that the meeting is exclusively for registered members. However, Nigerians who have followed the organisation’s activities and wish to join are encouraged to complete the official membership registration through its website.
COPDEM highlighted the need for expanding its community ahead of major mobilization efforts expected in 2026 and 2027.
The group further appealed for increased financial support, urging supporters to donate through its secure contribution link. According to organisers, financial stability is essential to sustaining advocacy programs, expanding outreach, and improving operational capacity across all chapters.
Background information obtained by DDM shows that COPDEM has grown into one of Nigeria’s most outspoken pro-democracy networks since the contentious post-2023 election environment.
The organisation has consistently positioned itself as a defender of democratic integrity, challenging forms of political suppression and demanding accountability from public office holders.
Founded by concerned citizens alarmed by shrinking civic space, the group has coordinated nationwide rallies, political education initiatives, public petitions, and human rights monitoring efforts. Its strong digital presence has also enabled wide engagement with diaspora supporters, who remain an active part of its campaigns.
Political analysts believe the 2025 General Meeting may shape COPDEM’s strategic direction heading into the next political cycle. Key discussions are expected to cover organisational restructuring, fundraising, civic mobilisation, voter education programs, and COPDEM’s stance on emerging national issues.
Members are also expected to review the accomplishments and challenges of the current year, evaluate the effectiveness of existing advocacy strategies, and identify new methods of community engagement.
Observers note that the global tone of the invitation, addressed to “members home and abroad”, reflects COPDEM’s determination to maintain a cohesive international identity. Diaspora participation has historically boosted the organisation’s credibility and amplified its voice on global platforms.
Within Nigeria, the coalition has remained vocal on governance, electoral justice, youth involvement, and civic rights. Its persistent advocacy has at times placed it at odds with political interests uncomfortable with its rising influence.
As December 14 approaches, the organisation maintains that democracy can only be defended through active citizen participation, strategic organisation, and consistent pressure for transparency. The upcoming meeting, therefore, represents a crucial moment for COPDEM’s internal assessment and future planning.
The coalition continues to encourage Nigerians who believe in democratic justice and civil accountability to join the movement and support its mission through regular contributions.
All attention now shifts to the global virtual meeting, where members will convene to shape COPDEM’s next chapter in Nigeria’s evolving political landscape.
