Nasiru Gawuna, a former deputy governor of Kano State and the APC’s governorship candidate in the 2023 elections, has resigned from the party.
In a letter dated March 29, 2026, Gawuna said his decision to leave the All Progressives Congress (APC) was personal and voluntary, adding that it takes immediate effect.
He also thanked the party for the opportunities he had during his time as a member.
Gawuna did not reveal his next political move, but his resignation is coming at a time when there are major political shifts happening in Kano State ahead of future elections.
Sources say he is expected to meet with former governor Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, raising speculation about a possible new political alignment.
