Ex-Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Godwin Emefiele

Godwin Emefiele, a former governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, is currently in court asking for a change to his bail requirements.

Six counts related to N1.2 billion in procurement fraud are being tried against the former governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria.

For the first time, armed security guards with harsh expressions would not be accompanying him to the courthouse when he appeared there.

On December 23, 2023, Emefiele was released from Kuje Custodial Center, 34 days after the judge granted him bail.

He is requesting a review of certain of his bail requirements by the court.

The FCT High Court’s Justice Hamza Muazu is presently hearing arguments on the subject.
