The final group of Nigerians evacuated from South Africa following a wave of xenophobic attacks has arrived in Lagos.
The evacuees landed at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport on Tuesday aboard an Air Peace flight, which touched down at about 11:28 a.m.
Their arrival marks the completion of the Federal Government’s evacuation exercise launched in response to growing concerns over attacks and hostility directed at foreign nationals in South Africa.
Before the latest flight, the government had carried out four evacuation operations, bringing hundreds of stranded Nigerians back home.
The final flight concludes the coordinated airlift aimed at ensuring the safe return of citizens affected by the renewed xenophobic tensions.
Further details are expected.
