Five fishermen have reported died on Sunday evening when their boat capsized on Lake Victoria near the Dho-Goye area in Usigu Sub-County, Kenya.
According to John Ochieng’, chairman of the Usenge Beach Management Unit (BMU), the boat was carrying seven fishermen when strong winds overturned it.
Kenyan media outlet, Citizen Digital also reported that one fisherman survived by clinging to the overturned vessel until rescued by fellow fishermen.
As the time of this report, two bodies have been recovered and taken to Got Agulu Sub-County Hospital mortuary.
Search and rescue teams continue to comb the lake for the remaining victims.
