Major General Ibrahim Attahiru has officially taken over as the new Chief of Army Staff.
General Attahiru succeeded Tukur Buratai, who was fired on Monday by President Mohammadu Buhari after Nigerians mounted pressure on the president to dismiss the top security Chiefs because of their inability to stem the rising insecurity in the country.
The handover ceremony was done at the Defence Headquarters in Abuja.
