Several students sitting for the National Examinations Council (NECO) Senior School Certificate Examination have been abducted after gunmen stormed Government Day Secondary School in Lassa, Askira/Uba Local Government Area of Borno State.
The attack occurred on Monday morning while candidates were writing their examination papers.
Sources said the assailants invaded the school premises and whisked away an unspecified number of students. A teacher was reportedly killed during the attack, while another sustained injuries.
Confirming the incident, the spokesperson for the Borno State Police Command, Nahum Daso, said some students remain unaccounted for following the raid.
Security agencies have yet to disclose the exact number of students abducted, while efforts are said to be underway to locate the victims and track down the attackers.
