There is strong indication that President Bola Tinubu will not longer be presenting the N47.9 trillion 2025 budget to the joint session of the National Assembly on Tuesday.
A source according to PUNCH said the presentation dates has been postponed from Tuesday, December 17, to Wednesday, December 18.
An official statement from the presidency is expected to be issued in respect to this latest development.
Meanwhile, the abrupt rescheduling follows an announcement made by Senate President Godswill Akpabio during the Thursday plenary, where he had previously revealed that President Tinubu would present the 2025 budget on December 17.
He said, “The president has made his intention known to the National Assembly to present the 2025 budget to the joint Assembly of the National Assembly on the 17th of December, 2024.”
Akpabio said that the budget presentation will occur at the House of Representatives Chamber.
He further informed the lawmakers that plenary will be at 10:30 am to allow senators to meet in the Red Chamber before moving in procession to the House of Representatives chamber where the budget will be presented.
Recall that President Bola Tinubu had last month, submitted the Medium-Term Expenditure Framework and Fiscal Strategy Paper for 2025–2027 to both the Senate and the House of Representatives.
