Kaduna govt lied, none of the abducted students were rescued ~ Omokri

The former media aide to president Goodluck Jonathan, Reno Omokri has bombed Kaduna State government, accusing them of lying over the purported rescue of Kaduna students who were abducted in the early hours of today.

Reno Omokri in a statement said he spoke with an official from the Kaduna school and he confirmed that the state government only came after the incident and ferried some of the students who were not kidnapped to the barracks and proceeded to release a press statement claiming that the victims of the abduction have been released.

He said, “I just spoke to an official from the Kaduna school. None of the students were ‘rescued’. According to him, the Kaduna State Government came AFTER the abduction and took those who were not abducted to a barracks, and then proceeded to release a statement claiming they were rescued.

Reno further advised Nigerian journalists to find out the truth by taking time to interview the said girls who were rescued by the security agencies immediately they leave the military barracks.

“I urge Nigerian journalists to wait for the so called ‘rescued’ students to leave the barracks and then interview them on their own, without an official of the Kaduna State Government present.”

Recalled that unknown gunmen suspected to be bandits had attacked the Federal College of Forestry in Kaduna State, abducting unspecified number of students.

The college is located few metres away from the Nigerian Defence Academy in the Mando area of Kaduna State.

Confirming the incident, the spokesman of the Kaduna State Police Command, Mohammed Jalige said that the attackers invaded the college located at Mando area in the outskirts of Kaduna metropolis at about 3 am on Friday and abducted some students.

However, the Kaduna State government had announced today that over 180 students abducted by the gunmen in Kaduna State have been rescued by troops of the Nigerian Army

The State government announced this in a statement issued by the state Commissioner, Internal Security and Home Affairs, Samuel Aruwan.

According to Aruwan, 42 female students, 130 male students and eight staff were rescued while about 30 students, including males and females, are still missing.
