KADUNA, NIGERIA — The Kaduna State Police Command has arrested 10 suspected arms dealers allegedly linked to the supply of weapons to criminal groups operating in different parts of the state.

Security authorities disclosed that the operation led to the recovery of several firearms, including AK-47 rifles and pistols, during coordinated intelligence-driven raids.

According to police sources, the suspects are believed to be involved in an illegal network supplying weapons to armed groups and bandits responsible for attacks and other criminal activities.

Officials explained that the arrests formed part of ongoing efforts to disrupt the movement of illegal arms and weaken criminal networks across Kaduna and neighboring areas.

The police command stated that the recovered weapons have been taken into custody as investigations continue.

Security analysts have repeatedly warned that the circulation of illegal firearms remains one of the major factors fueling insecurity in several parts of Nigeria.

Banditry and armed violence have affected communities across northern states, resulting in deaths, kidnappings, displacement, and destruction of property.

Authorities believe the availability of weapons has strengthened the operational capacity of criminal groups involved in attacks on communities and travelers.

The latest arrests are viewed by security observers as a significant move toward cutting off supply chains that sustain armed groups.

Experts say dismantling supply networks is essential because criminal groups often rely on collaborators for access to weapons and logistics support.

The police command reiterated its commitment to protecting lives and property through sustained operations against criminal elements.

Authorities also urged residents to provide credible information capable of assisting security agencies in preventing crimes and identifying suspects.

Observers noted that tackling illegal arms trafficking remains important to broader efforts aimed at restoring peace and reducing violence across affected regions.

Attention now shifts to the ongoing investigation and efforts to uncover additional links within the suspected arms supply network.
