Kidnapped Kaduna-Abuja train passengers

Mr. Sadiq Ango Abdullahi, the son of the Chairman of the Northern Elders’ Forum (NEF) and former Vice Chancellor of the Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria), Prof. Ango Abdullahi, who is also the Convener of the Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF), has revealed that despite his release alongside others, some 43 victims of the Abuja – Kaduna train attack are still in captivity.

According to Mr. Sadiq Abdullahi, the remaining passengers include aged women and children below ten years of age.

It could be recalled that News Band reported that Ango Abdullahi was, alongside six others, released from captivity, after 104 days in captivity.

On Monday, a family member confirmed that Abdullahi was released on Friday after spending over three months in captivity.

Their release followed the payment of ransom of a whopping eight hundred million Naira.

He and five others paid one hundred million Naira each, while a Pakistani was forced to pay two hundred million Naira to secure his release.

Taking to his Twitter handle @sadiqango on Wednesday, Sadiq expressed sadness that dozens of others are still languishing in the kidnappers den.

He called on the Federal Government and all Nigerians to help secure the release of the remaining victims who are under constant threat of death if ransom is not paid.

He tweeted:

“Alhamdulillah… I regained freedom after 104 days in captivity.

“I thank the many people out there, family, friends and well wishers that prayed and wished for my safe return during these trying times.

“Indeed it is a big relief to be home with family, but I am afraid that relief is temporary knowing I left 43 others including aged women and children below the age of 10 that are still in captivity waiting and hoping to be rescued.

“I am once again calling on the Federal Government and all Nigerians to help secure the release of the remaining victims.”

On March 28, a train on its way from Abuja to Kaduna was attacked by gunmen in Kateri-Rijana area of Kaduna state.
