Kano APC chieftain regrets campaigning for Tinubu
By Ibraheemalfa Abdulrasheed

A prominent chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kano, Alhaji Abdulmajid Dan Bilki Commander, has openly expressed regret for supporting President Bola Ahmed Tinubu during the 2023 general election.
According to Diaspora digital media (DDM) reports, Commander, a well-known political figure in northern Nigeria, played a significant role in mobilizing support for Tinubu and the APC.
During the election campaign, he actively urged Nigerians to vote for Tinubu, believing that his leadership would bring progress and stability.
However, in a recent interview with Daily Trust, he admitted that the current administration has failed to meet public expectations.
Commander described his decision to campaign for Tinubu as one of the biggest mistakes of his political career.
He stated that he had never regretted any action as much as his involvement in promoting the APC-led government.
“It pains me, but it is the truth, and let the truth be told,” Commander declared during the interview.
He affirmed that although he remains an active APC member, he can no longer ignore the failings of the government.
According to him, the current administration has disappointed Nigerians, leading to frustration and widespread discontent.
He expressed concerns over the deteriorating economic situation, rising insecurity, and a general lack of effective governance.
The APC stalwart revealed that he had invested significant time, energy, and resources into persuading people to support Tinubu.
Now, he feels that he misled the people, as the government has failed to deliver on its campaign promises.
He described the level of hardship in Nigeria as unbearable, stating that many citizens struggle to afford basic necessities.
“Nigerians are hungry and angry,” Commander lamented while expressing concern over the worsening living conditions across the country.
He emphasized that many people cannot afford two square meals a day due to inflation and economic instability.
Commander also criticized the security situation, stating that Nigerians no longer feel safe in their homes and communities.
According to him, governance under Tinubu has been lopsided, failing to address the pressing needs of the people.
The APC chieftain acknowledged that he had unintentionally misled voters by promoting a government that has not met expectations.
In a rare show of humility, he publicly sought forgiveness from Nigerians for advocating for an administration that has not improved their lives.
His remarks reflect growing dissatisfaction within the APC and among supporters who feel let down by Tinubu’s leadership.
Many Nigerians who had high hopes for the administration now feel betrayed due to poor governance and unfulfilled promises.
Economic hardship, insecurity, and policy failures have fueled widespread criticism of the government’s handling of national affairs.
Despite his disappointment, Commander remains an APC member but urges the government to take urgent corrective measures.
Political analysts believe his statement signals deepening internal discontent within the ruling party ahead of future elections.
More APC members may speak out against the administration if urgent steps are not taken to address national challenges.
Nigerians await policy reforms and tangible improvements in governance to alleviate economic hardship and restore public confidence.
