Kano Bomb Blast Death Toll Now 24, 60 Still Hospitalised

The number of martyrs of the Friday Bomb attacked on Muslims undertaking Arba’een Symbolic trek from Kano to Hussainiyyah Baqiyyatullah Zaria Kaduna state has reached twenty Four (24).

This included death of some of the injured. 60 of them, who are injured at various degrees, are receiving treatment in hospital.

According to the Media Team Leader of this year’s Arba’een symbolic trek Ibrahim Usman, as from yesterday to date, two more people has died in a hospital bed following the Bomb Blast incident.

The blast occurred on a crowd of members of this year’s Arba’een symbolic trek from Kano to Hussainiyyah Baqiyyatullah Zaria at Dakasoye village area of Garun Mallam local government, Kano state, on Friday, November 27, around 2:30pm.

It could be recalled that shortly after the blast, 21 people were reported dead while others have sustained various degrees of injuries.

One day later, 1 more person died in a hospital bed, while yesterday two more followed.

The Arba’een trekkers will finally converge at Hussainiyyah Baqiyyatullah in Zaria on December 3 for the grand Arba’een lecture by the leader of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria, Sheikh Ibraheem Zakzaky.

That will coincide with the world’s most populous gathering at the tomb of Imam Husain (AS) in Karbala, Iraq in which over 40 million pilgrims participated last year.

Some Pastors from different church denomination from Kaduna will joined the trek, led by Pastor Yohanna Buru of the Evangelical Church and head of the Peace Revival and Reconciliation organization, and NGO.

Pastor Yohanna Buru told the newsmen in Kaduna: “Why should I not trek in solidarity with the cause of Imam Husain, when is a struggle for justice and I as a Christian proclaim to champion the cause for justice, unity and religious tolerance?

“I should be hypocritical if I don’t do that. 

“We also want to experience the suffering of the handful of the Ahlul Bayt after the killing of Imam Husain in Karbala”.
