Kidnappers Open Fire On Abuja City Highway, Abduct Man Driving Home With Wife

A citizen of the country’s capital, Abdullahi Sabo, has been kidnapped amid the growing wave of insecurity in Abuja.
In the nation’s capital, gunmen stopped Sabo’s car on Sabon-Lugbe Airport Road while he was returning home with his wife.

When the tragic event happened, the victim was operating his Ash-colored Lexus Jeep, registered under the ABC 769 TP license plate.

It was learned that he had left the city center and was on his way home when the assailants in an unmarked Golf vehicle started shooting, causing the jeep’s tires to get deflated.

Sabo’s kidnapping was corroborated by Daramola Joseph, one of the victim’s neighbors, who spoke with our reporter over the phone.

“The man’s wife had fled before they could approach the jeep, so they fired the tires to force it to stop. But they left with the husband,” he remarked.

“When the gunmen opened fire, the man and his spouse were making their way back from the city center toward the Jedo Estate access road.”

When contacted, SP Adeh Josephine, a spokeswoman for the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) police headquarters, promised to look into the matter and get back to our reporter.

She hadn’t, however, completed this as of the report’s submission.

This happened less than 48 hours after gunmen broke into Army Estate in Kurudu, Abuja, and took some of the occupants hostage.

Minister of the Federal Capital Territory Nyesom Wike had given locals confidence in their safety at townhall meetings in the Bwari and Gwagwalada Area Councils, stating that sufficient security measures had been implemented.
