Kidnappers who abducted US returnee Catholic priest arrested – Fada Ebube Muonso
DDM News

Rev. Fr. Emmanuel Obimma, popularly known as Fada Ebube Muonso, has announced that six kidnappers responsible for the abduction of his colleague in December have been arrested.
While addressing his congregation, the Catholic priest expressed joy over the capture of the kidnappers who had previously mocked him, Diaspora digital media (DDM) reports.
Rev. Fr. Nonso, a Catholic priest studying in the United States, was abducted in Anambra while on vacation.
He was kidnapped shortly after purchasing fuel at a filling station.
Obimma, who made several efforts to secure his colleague’s release, revealed that it took the intervention of a governor from outside Anambra to track the kidnappers and locate where the priest was being held.
Lamenting the security challenges in Anambra, he criticized the reluctance of security operatives to act even after intelligence from outside the state pinpointed the location of the kidnappers.
He disclosed that law enforcement officers in Anambra only took action after he provided them with a N1 million tip.
He also expressed disappointment in the security measures under the administration of Governor Chukwuma Soludo.
Rev. Fr. Nonso was eventually freed on Christmas Eve and later presented to the congregation.
Speaking on Sunday, Obimma shared that six of the kidnappers had now been captured.
“I told you people that I spoke with the kidnappers and ordered them to release the priest, but they mocked me, saying I was joking.
They even told me they see me every day and have only been resisting the urge to kidnap me,” he stated.
“When we sent them the ransom, I warned that their arrest was only a matter of time.
Instead of taking my words seriously, the kidnappers responded with ‘Iseee,’ which means Amen in Igbo.
They thought it was a joke, but now they are begging for mercy after their capture.”
Videos of the kidnappers’ arrest have surfaced on social media.
However, as of the time of filing this report, the Anambra State Police Command has yet to issue an official statement regarding the arrests.
