A Kuwaiti Criminal Court has on March 26, 2025, sentenced a police officer, an inmate, and a middleman to four years in prison each.

According to Media Court, a Kuwaiti legal news platform, the trio were convicted for smuggling mobile phones into a correctional facility in exchange for bribes.

They allegedly received 1,000 Kuwaiti Dinars (about $3,244) as a bribe for the illegal act.

During the investigation, security operatives uncovered their activities through surveillance cameras installed in the facility.

The authorities arrested and referred them to the public prosecution for legal action.

After trial, the court found them guilty of conspiracy and smuggling.

The convicted policeman was dismissed from service as part of the judgment.

The court also ordered him to pay double the bribe amount.

Kuwait Intensifies Crackdown on Police Misconduct

Recently, Kuwait has been taking strict disciplinary action against law enforcement officers involved in misconduct.

Recently, the government dismissed several officers for various offenses.

Earlier this month, a police officer lost his job after a viral video exposed his inappropriate behavior.

The video showed him driving a car while playing loud music, with a woman beside him. Kuwait’s Acting Prime Minister and Interior Minister, Fahd Al Yousuf, personally ordered his dismissal.

Last month, three officers were dismissed for misconduct in separate incidents.

One of them appeared in comic social media videos without ministry approval, while two others were fired for physically assaulting a prisoner.

In January, a former police officer received a 15-year prison sentence for attempting to rob a foreign exchange office.

The authorities continue to reinforce discipline within the security sector.

Authorities have assured citizens that law enforcement agencies will operate with integrity and discipline.
