Following the controversy surrounding the death of Mary Habila, a physiotherapist who died in Uburu country home of Works Minister, David Umahi, Igbodike Movement has warned the Northern Youths Council not ignite unnecessary trouble.

The warning is coming after Northern Youths Council threatened to embark on a protest over her death.

But Igbodike Movement in a statement issued by it’s National Coordinator, Dr Peter Nwankwo warmed the Northern Youths Council to be ‘mindful of their limitations and guard their irresponsible and reckless utterances or we shall help them to set the entire nation on fire’.

The statement reads: “The attention of Igbodike Movement has been drawn to the threats of nationwide protest against Hon, Dave Umahi, the minister of works by the Northern Youths Council.

“We warned the Northern Youths Council to be mindful of their limitations and guard their irresponsible and reckless utterances or we shall help them to set the entire nation on fire.

“The unfortunate incident concerning the death of Mary Habilla at the residence of the Honorable minister is still being investigated by security agencies and medical personnel, why should a group of unguided and sponsored Northern Youths Council hang her death on the neck of Dave Umahi.

“Death is an unfortunate incident that can happen at anywhere without notice or information.

“Mary Habilla can be suffering from acute internal decease that can suddenly result to death.

“Igbodike Movement observed that the sponsored statements of the Northern Youths Council made against the most working minister of Igbo extraction in President Tinubu’s administration is out of tribalistic hatred of Igbos.

“Ndigbo will never tolerate this gang up against Dave Umahi.

“No ethnic nationality in Nigeria has monopoly of political threat or the tendency of superior complex against the other. Northern Youths Council should know that Eastern Youths are not happy.

“Igbodike Movement will always support our own brother, Dave Umahi as the most Igbo active ally of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.”

Though, since her death, Senator David Umahi has called for an autopsy to determine the cause of her demise.

In a statement issued by his spokesman, Francis Nwaze, Umahi said he received the news of Habila’s death with shock and sadness, while extending condolences to her family.

He said immediate steps were taken after the incident, including contacting medical personnel, the Chief Medical Director of DUFUS, Uburu, and notifying the police in line with legal procedures.

According to him, he had earlier advised the deceased’s family to allow an autopsy to be conducted to scientifically establish the cause of death, but the recommendation was declined at the time.

The minister, however, reiterated his call for the autopsy, describing it as the most credible and responsible way to resolve questions surrounding the incident.

“Following the recent developments and in the interest of ensuring that the truth is established beyond doubt, the Honourable Minister has again reiterated his position that an autopsy must be conducted,” the statement said.

Umahi urged members of the public to avoid speculation and allow relevant authorities to carry out their duties without interference.

He also appealed for restraint while expressing sympathy with the family of the deceased and praying for strength for them to bear the loss.
