Liverpool edge closer to Premier League title as Arsenal slip up

Liverpool has taken a significant step towards securing the Premier League title after Arsenal slipped up with a 1-1 draw against Brentford at the Emirates Stadium.
Thomas Partey’s 61st-minute opener for the Gunners was cancelled out by Yoane Wissa 13 minutes later, leaving Arsenal 10 points behind the Reds with six games to play.
The draw means Liverpool has the chance to go 13 points clear at the top of the table on Sunday when they host West Ham. Arsenal’s comedown after their 3-0 Champions League win over Real Madrid in midweek seems to have affected their performance, and they will need to regroup quickly to stay in contention.
In other Premier League matches, Manchester City bounced back from two goals down to thump Crystal Palace 5-2 at the Etihad Stadium.
Kevin De Bruyne pulled one back for City just before halftime, and the hosts dominated the second half with goals from Omar Marmoush, Mateo Kovacic, James McAtee, and Nico O’Reilly. City rose two places to fourth, two points behind third-placed Nottingham Forest.
Aston Villa joined City in moving into the top five with a 3-0 win over relegated Southampton.
Ollie Watkins and Donyell Malen scored in the second half, and John McGinn added a third in stoppage time after Aaron Ramsdale saved Marco Asensio’s penalty.
In other matches, Leicester secured their first point since January with a 2-2 draw against Brighton, and Everton beat Nottingham Forest 1-0 courtesy of Abdoulaye Doucoure’s stoppage-time goal.
