Macron Fires Back at Trump Over ‘Extremely Bad’ Remark About His Wife

Share this:

French President Emmanuel Macron has brushed off mocking comments made by Donald Trump about his marriage, saying they do not deserve a response.

Speaking during a visit to Seoul on Thursday, Macron described the remarks as “neither elegant nor up to standard,” adding that he would not engage further.

The comments follow rising tensions between the United States and its allies over the ongoing conflict involving Iran and disagreements within NATO.

Macron, however, appeared to express frustration over the broader situation, calling for focus on de-escalation rather than rhetoric.

“There is too much talk,” he said. “We need stability, calm, and a return to peace  this isn’t a show.”

Trump had earlier made the remarks during a private lunch, where he criticised NATO allies and mocked Macron, including comments about his wife, Brigitte Macron.

The remarks sparked backlash in France, with several politicians condemning the tone of the US president’s comments and describing them as inappropriate, especially given the seriousness of global tensions.

French officials say the priority remains efforts to reduce conflict and restore stability in the Middle East.
