Oyo State, Nigeria – In a bold step to boost tourism and economic growth, Governor Seyi Makinde has unveiled strategic plans to support the newly launched KAP Film Village and Resort in Igbojaiye.
Speaking at the grand opening on April 12, 2025, the governor emphasized his administration’s dedication to fostering private-sector investments.
Notably, he highlighted how tourism and infrastructure development will drive prosperity across the state.
“From the bottom of my heart, welcome to Oyo State, the sanctuary of Yoruba culture and history,” Governor Makinde declared.
Furthermore, he affirmed that the project aligns perfectly with the state’s economic vision.
To ensure its success, his administration will connect the resort to the national power grid within six months.
Additionally, a solar-hybrid mini-grid will provide reliable alternative energy.
Meanwhile, the Itesiwaju Local Government Council will rehabilitate the access road to improve transportation. Moreover, the governor revealed plans to utilize nearby airstrips in Otu and Igbeti for small aircraft, enhancing connectivity for tourists. These measures, he stressed, will position the resort as a premier destination.
Beyond infrastructure, Governor Makinde highlighted ongoing efforts to attract global partnerships. For instance, his administration recently signed an agreement with Semmaris, France, to develop a modern agrifood market. “We welcome private-sector initiatives that spur sustainable growth,” he stated. Similarly, he praised filmmaker Kunle Afolayan for choosing Oyo State, showcasing its investor-friendly policies.
Ultimately, Governor Makinde reiterated his commitment to enabling private investments. “Government’s role is to create a thriving environment for businesses,” he asserted. Finally, he congratulated Afolayan and urged the Igbojaiye community to embrace the project’s long-term benefits. With these initiatives, the KAP Film Village and Resort will anchor Oyo State’s tourism expansion, attracting more investors to its rich heritage.
