A disturbing case has emerged from Ejigbo, Lagos State, involving a married couple and their teenage housemaid.

Diasporal digital media (DDM) gathered that Mr. Clement Frank, 42, and his wife, Mrs. Mary Frank, 38, who have been married for 15 years without children, brought a 17-year-old housemaid from their hometown in Akwa Ibom State to assist with domestic chores.

However, what was meant to be help turned into a scandal that has now landed the couple in police custody.

According to reports, shortly after the maid’s arrival, Mr. Clement allegedly impregnated the underage maid, reportedly as a desperate attempt to have a child.

Upon discovering the maid’s pregnancy, Mrs. Mary Frank took her to St James Hospital in Ejigbo, where she allegedly arranged for a doctor to terminate the pregnancy.

The maid, however, opposed the abortion and raised an alarm, which led to the arrest of the couple.

The Lagos State Police Gender Section charged Mr. Clement Frank with defilement and impregnating a minor, while Mrs. Mary Frank faces charges for facilitating the abortion.

The couple is currently remanded in custody at a correctional center as the case proceeds before the Ogba Magistrate Court.

This incident has sparked widespread outrage on social media, raising questions about the abuse of domestic workers and the lengths some couples might go to in their quest for children.

The case highlights serious legal and ethical issues, including child protection, consent, and reproductive rights.

The police continue to investigate, and the community awaits justice for the young maid whose rights were allegedly violated in this tragic episode.
