In a tragic and disturbing incident in Asa Umudim community of Osisioma Local Government Area (LGA) in Abia State, Nigeria a man reportedly in his early 40s set his house on fire.

Diaspora Digital Media (DDM) reports that this act led to the death of one of his daughters.

This horrific event was reportedly motivated by allegations of his wife’s infidelity.

According to community sources, the suspect accused his wife of engaging in extra-marital affairs.

He also believed she regularly received phone calls from men he suspected to be her lovers.

Driven by jealousy and suspicion, the man doused his home with an inflammable substance.

He then ignited the house, causing a devastating fire.

Tragically, one of his daughters died inside the burning house.

His wife and two other children sustained severe injuries in the attack.

They are currently receiving treatment at a nearby hospital.

Doctors are working hard to save their lives.

The identity of the suspect has not been released by security agencies.

Angry villagers attempted to lynch the man before police arrived.

The police intervened and arrested the suspect.

The body of the deceased daughter has been deposited in a mortuary.

The Police Public Relations Officer of Abia State, DSP Maureen Chinaka, confirmed the incident.

She said, “Yes, the police are aware. Investigation is ongoing.”

This tragic case highlights ongoing challenges related to domestic violence and gender-based abuse in Nigeria.

Abia State is located in the Southeastern geopolitical zone of the country.

It has recently seen increased efforts and awareness campaigns aimed at tackling domestic violence.
