Mr. Peter Eze, a senior aide to the former governor of Abia State and senator representing Abia North at the National Assembly, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, has debunked the rumour making rounds over the death of the Senator, describing the news as false and baseless.

Mr. Eze disclosed this during a phone interview with Diaspora Digital Media (DDM) correspondent on Sunday, September 01, 2024.

The false report

According to the false report sighted on the internet, Senator Uzor Kalu died after a surgery in Germany.

The report added that he died few weeks ago in a Germany hospital in Wiesbaden after a major surgery.

He, according to the report, had a short recovery after sliding into coma but died few days later.

The false report added: “The death which has also been confirmed by one of Kalu’s close aides who traveled with him to Germany, is being closely guarded by his family

“The aide… pleaded anonymity because he is not authorized to speak on the matter.

“He said: “For those of you who are saying that Orji Kalu has returned back from his medical trip in Germany, this is fatal lie.

“”Dr. Orji Uzor Kalu died on a life support machine few days after the surgery.

“”I know this thing will not last because one day, the people will definitely find out the real truth, but the big question now is, “How long are we going to be deceived?”

“”Instead of the family to mourn their loss and our loss, they decided to play politics with his death.

Senator Kalu’s aide responds

Reacting to the publication, Eze said: “The purported news of Senator Uzor Kalu’s death was the handiwork of mischief makers, and enemies of the country who have no good wishes for the former governor.”

He further added that such a weighty rumour was able to cause panic among family members.

“It may result in serious negative consequences,” Eze added.

He warned that those responsible for promoting and circulating the fake news should desist from such act or be ready to face the full consequence of their actions.

Recall that rumour has been circulating on social media that the former governor of Abia State died in German hospital after he failed to recover successfully from an operation.

Efforts made to speak with the former governor failed as he declined calls, but his aide spoke up when contacted.
