Microsoft is rolling out major changes in its upcoming Edge browser update, version 137.0.3296.16.

This version is now available in the Beta Channel for testing before its public release later in May 2025, Diaspora Digital Media (DDM) reports

The update removes several older features while introducing new, productivity-focused enhancements.

Microsoft is phasing out the Image Editor, Image Hover menus, Mini menus, video super resolution, and Wallet Hub.

These removals are part of Microsoft’s effort to simplify the Edge experience and streamline its interface.

The Wallet Hub, previously used for payments and even crypto testing, will no longer exist in the browser.

Payment functions will move into a new section under Passwords, Personal Information, and Payment management.

This new design will replace the Wallet option in Edge’s settings menu.

According to Microsoft, this is a controlled rollout and may not appear for all users immediately.

Users are advised to check back regularly as the changes continue rolling out across systems.

While features are being removed, Edge 137 also delivers a reworked picture-in-picture (PiP) video player.

The PiP mode now includes controls to play, pause, skip, and view a progress bar.

Users can multitask while watching videos anywhere on the screen using the new PiP controls.

Simply click the PiP icon on any video to use the updated player.

Edge 137 introduces smarter AI tools through Microsoft 365 Copilot integration.

The Work tab in Business Chat now supports page summarization and contextual questions.

Users can ask Copilot to “summarize this page” directly from the Edge side pane.

Contextual prompt suggestions help users ask more relevant and timely questions about their open pages.

A Microsoft 365 Copilot license is required to access these AI features in Edge.

This functionality is part of a staged rollout and may not be visible to everyone right away.

Edge 137 also retires the Mutation Events Enabled policy used for old DOM change detection.

Web developers must now use the modern Mutation Observer API for related functionality.

In Edge for Business, Microsoft plans to integrate Copilot Chat with the “Find on Page” feature.

This will help users locate specific information on webpages faster and more efficiently.

Again, this feature is being released gradually and might not be available immediately to all users.

Language support is also expanding in Edge’s built-in PDF reader.

Users can now add text in non-English languages using the Adobe Acrobat-powered PDF editor.

Microsoft Edge 137 Beta is available now from the Edge Insider website.

The stable release is scheduled for the week of May 29, 2025.

Microsoft promises a faster, cleaner, and smarter Edge experience with this update.

Users can expect a more focused design and improved AI integration going forward.
