Police commission promotes two officers to deputy inspector general

The Police Service Commission (PSC) has approved the promotion of AIGs Sulieman Amuda Yusuf and Rhoda Adetutu Olofu to DIGs.

Diaspora digital media (DDM) revealed that their appointments fill vacancies created by the retirement of the DIGs responsible for operations and information and communication technology.

PSC spokesperson Ikechukwu Ani announced that the promotion was based on seniority, professionalism, and outstanding service records.

Both officers represent the North-Central geopolitical zone in the Nigeria Police Force and have shown dedication to duty.

The commission emphasized that their promotions would inspire other police officers to strive for excellence in their careers.

Profiles of the newly appointed DIGs

DIG Sulieman Amuda Yusuf

Before his promotion, DIG Yusuf held several key positions within the Nigeria Police Force.

His most recent role was AIG Zone 9, Umuahia, where he oversaw policing operations across several states.

He previously served as AIG federal operations at the Force Headquarters, managing critical police assignments nationwide.

As commissioner of police (CP), he was in charge of Taraba State, ensuring security and law enforcement.

He also commanded the Police Mobile Force (PMF), which handles tactical operations and special assignments.

Yusuf held the position of deputy commandant at both Police College Kaduna and Police College Oji River.

He served as deputy commissioner of police (DCP) operations in Jigawa State, leading strategic security initiatives.

Earlier in his career, he worked as assistant commissioner in the Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department (CIID) in Bauchi State.

DIG Olofu, before her promotion, was the force secretary at the Force Headquarters.

She previously served as AIG maritime police command in Lagos, ensuring security in Nigeria’s waterways and ports.

As CP, she headed the Ports Authority Police Western Ports Command, overseeing security operations in maritime environments.

She also led the X-Squad under the Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID), handling special investigations.

Olofu held the position of CP Servicom, research, and planning department, focusing on police service improvements.

She served as deputy commissioner in several departments, including research and planning, training and development, and administration.

Her experience includes roles in investment, logistics, and supply, where she managed police resources.

Earlier, she worked as an assistant commissioner in the establishment office of the force secretary.

Career background and achievements

Both DIG Yusuf and DIG Olofu were trained at the Police Academy before joining the force.

They were appointed as cadet assistant superintendents on March 3, 1990.

Over the years, they have demonstrated dedication, professionalism, and leadership within the Nigeria Police Force.

Their promotions reflect their commitment to maintaining law and order in the country.

PSC chairman congratulates new DIGs

The chairman of the Police Service Commission, retired DIG Hashimu Argungu, praised the newly promoted officers.

He commended them for their remarkable careers and their contributions to the Nigeria Police Force.

Argungu expressed confidence that they would continue to provide quality leadership and support national security efforts.

He reaffirmed the PSC’s commitment to timely, merit-based promotions within the police force.

The commission’s decision has been formally communicated to the inspector general of police for immediate implementation.
