The Nigerian military has firmly rejected claims regarding losses to insurgents in Borno State.
In response, they countered Governor Babagana Umara Zulum’s recent assertions.
While acknowledging his concerns, authorities stressed no Local Government Area (LGA) remains under Boko Haram or ISWAP control.
Recent attacks in Wulgo, Sabongari, and Wajiroko specifically targeted military installations. They clarified that these areas contained no civilians and did not result in territorial losses.
Moreover, military leaders confirmed tactical setbacks; however, they denied any strategic defeats. They noted that troops under Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK) continue to dominate key zones while effectively dismantling threats.
In Bama LGA, forces cleared 13 terrorist enclaves, including Gargash and Darejimal, disrupting insurgent activities.
Additionally, over 200,000 fighters and families surrendered, crippling recruitment and reducing large-scale attacks—a result of sustained operations in Lake Chad and Sambisa Forest.
Targeted strikes further degraded insurgent leadership, with airstrikes in Arina eliminating five commanders and 35 fighters.
Meanwhile, ground operations in the Timbuktu Triangle neutralized 70 combatants, including senior figures like Talha and Abu Yazeed.
Recent raids in Kolleram village killed ISWAP leaders Ali Dawud and Bakura Fallujah.
Concurrently, “Operation Kalacen Wuta” disrupted strongholds across Mandara Mountains and Lake Chad, weakening insurgent capabilities.
However, challenges persist in remote border regions like Guzamala and Marte, where porous borders with Chad, Niger, and Cameroon complicate security.
Addressing these zones demands tighter regional cooperation via the Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF), blending military action with diplomacy and intelligence-sharing.
The military also urged responsible public discourse, warning against politicizing insecurity.
While praising Governor Zulum’s past support for resettling displaced communities, they criticized contradictory statements, stressing consistency avoids emboldening adversaries or demoralizing troops.
Reiterating their commitment, forces called for unified stakeholder action: enhanced intelligence sharing, cross-border collaboration, and stronger local governance.
Operation Hadin Kai remains focused on securing communities, enabling development, and safeguarding over one million returnees.
“Troops sacrifice daily, but success requires collective effort—not just battlefield wins,” officials stated, urging solidarity to sustain progress.
With resilience and cooperation, they affirmed, lasting peace remains achievable.
