Missing pregnant woman found alive, baby taken by abductors

Dorathy Opus, a pregnant woman who went missing on Friday, February 7, 2025, has been found alive.
Diaspora Digital Media gathered that she was discovered on Wednesday, February 12, around 7 PM at The Young Roundabout in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, South-South Nigeria.
Reports indicate that her abductors forcibly delivered her baby and took the child before abandoning her at the location.
Dorathy is currently receiving medical care at a hospital in Port Harcourt.
Her sister-in-law revealed that Dorathy had left her home on Friday afternoon, carrying her phone, charger, and purse.
She assured her son she would return soon but never came back, leaving her family in distress until her discovery.
Insecurity in Rivers State
While the authorities are investigating the abduction and are working to locate the missing newborn, DDM understands that insecurity is a significant concern in Rivers State.
The political tussle in the State is worsened by cases of abductions and killings.
The state has experienced a shift away from oil militancy to other types of insecurity, including kidnapping and armed robbery.
The situation has become increasingly worrisome, with many residents and visitors falling victim to these crimes.
The government has made efforts to address the issue, but the problem persists, leaving many to wonder if the state is doing enough to protect its citizens.
The state government has established various security initiatives, including the Rivers State Neighbourhood Safety Corps Agency, to tackle the problem.
