More trouble for Saraki as Obono-Obla drags him to APC NEC

Senate President, Senator Bukola Saraki might have bitten more than he could chew when he unilaterally overruled nomination of Mr. Okoi Obono-Obla from Nigerian Communications Commission [NCC] governing body after confirmation by the Senate.

This is premised on this latest development as Mr. Obono-Obla has dragged Saraki to the Chairman of the All Progressives Congress [APC], Chief John Odigie-Oyegun.

In a 5-page letter titled PETITION AGAINST SENATOR [DR.] ABUBAKAR BUKOLA SARAKI PRESIDENT OF THE SENATE OF THE FEDERAL REPUBLIC OF NIGERIA FOR ANTI-PARTY ACTIVITY CONCERNING MY NOMINATION BY PRESIDENT MUHAMMMADU BUHARIAS NON-EXECUTIVE COMMISSIONER TO REPRESENT THE SOUTH-SOUTH IN THE BOARD OF NIGERIA COMMUNICATIONS COMMISSION, Mr. Obono-Obla narrated his ordeal in the hands of the Senate President.

Recall that a lawyer, Barrister Ugochukwu Osuagwu recently wrote a strong-worded petition to Saraki himself querying the removal of Obono-Obla from NCC governing body after he was confirmed by the Senate.

On the 3rd August, 2016 Okoi Obono-Obla was nominated by President Muhammadu Buhari as a Non-Executive Commissioner to represent the South/South in NCC.

He was, however, unilaterally overruled by Saraki after he was successfully screened by the Senate Committee on Communication on the 19th October, 2016.

Earlier, on the 17th November, the Report of the Senate Committee was presented before the Plenary Session of the Senate by the Chair, Senator Gilbert Emeka Nnaji.

The Senate unanimously confirmed the following thus: Senator Olabiyi Durojaiye (Chairman); Sunday Dare (Executive Commissioner, Stakeholders Management); Clement Omeiza Baiye (Non-Executive Commissioner); Senator Ifeanyi Ararume (Non-Executive Commissioner) and Chief Okoi Ofem Obono-Obla (Non-Executive Commissioner).

The entire major electronic and print media organs in the country on the 17th & 18th November, 2016 carried the confirmation by the Senate of the Board of NCC.

Surprisingly and curiously, the Senate President , Senator (Dr) Abubakar Bukola Saraki sent a letter dated 22nd November, 2016 to President Muhammadu Buhari titled “Confirmation of Appointments”.

He falsely stated that the Senate did not confirm the following nominees thus: Aliyu Saidu Abubakar; Pastor Ezekiel Yissa and Chief Okoi Ofem Obono-Obla

Mr. Okoi Obono-Obla letter reads:
