Muslim leader urges end to incessant killings in Nigeria

A clergyman, Mallam Kabir Sa’ad, has warned perpetrators of killings in Nigeria to be wary of the judgment day when they would account for their deeds on earth.

Sa’ad, who is the Chief Imam of 4 Brigade Central Mosque in Benin, gave the warning during his Juma’at sermon on Friday in Benin.

He said that Allah forbids shedding of human blood by fellow human beings and those perpetrators of the dastardly act would never go unpunished on the day of resurrection.

The Islamic scholar, who bemoaned incessant killings across the country, said that such action negated the principles and teachings of Islam.

Sa’ad urged Muslims to always protect their dignity and the dignity of others around them.

This, he said, was because Allah would question every individual on their relationship and dealings with fellow human beings.

“Every Muslim will account for his deeds on earth.

“We will all be accountable for our wealth, how we acquire it and how to spend it.

“Every scholar will also account for the application of their knowledge; those who guide and misguide people,’’ he said.

The Muslim leader also cautioned the congregants against vulgar and bad language, noting that it was honourable for people to keep mute than to say provocative and bad words.

He called on the leaders to always see themselves as trusted shepherds, who would give an account of their stewardship in the hereafter.

The Imam expressed worry that most Muslims, who pray regularly today, lacked attitude, characters and behaviour befitting of a genuine Muslim. (NAN)
