Muslim-Muslim ticket: Former APC publicity secretary, Onwuasoanya resigns from party

F.C.C Jones Onwuasoanya, a public affairs commentator and former publicity secretary of the All Progressive Congress in Imo State, has resigned from the party over the choice of Senator Shettima as the running mate of Bola Tinubu.

In a letter addressed to the ward chairman of the party in Umuokwara/Umuezeaga Ward in Ideato North Local Government Area of Imo State, Onwuasoanya explained that he cannot in good conscience be part of an organization that promotes incompetence ahead of competence and divisiveness ahead of the unity of the country.

Jones in the letter further stressed that beyond mismanagement of the diversity of Nigeria, the All Progressives Congress, has also squandered it’s wealth and destroyed everything the people hold dear.

The letter reads, “May I use this opportunity to inform you, that I have ceased from today, to be a member of the All Progressives Congress.

“I had thought I could manage to remain or pretend to remain an APC member for a longer time, especially, to enable me campaign effectively for my candidate for the Ideato Federal Constituency seat, but the recent nomination of Kashim Shettima as the running mate to Bola Ahmed Tinubu is the last straw that broke my pretentions to remaining an APC member at any level.

“I cannot in good conscience be part of a group or organization that promotes incompetence ahead of competence and divisiveness ahead of the unity of my country.

“You must agree with me that beyond mismanagement of the diversity of our dear country, the All Progressives Congress, has squandered the wealth of this country and has successfully ruined everything we hold dear as a people. The average Nigerian is sad and suicidal because of the pains of poverty and insecurity that this Party has subjected all of us to. We have become the scorn of the entire world and a reference point in the most horrible form of governance.

“I believe that continuing to identify as a member of the APC at any level would have history record me as one, who participated or aligned with those who intentionally destroyed the very fabrics of tolerance and accomodation on which our country is built, and inadvertently, approved the enslavement of our children by some religious and tribal supremacists who have seized the control of this Party.

“Mr. Chairman, please do kindly convey my communication to every member of the Party in our ward and assure them that I will always have them in my thoughts and prayers as I look forward to their liberation from the doom that APC represents.”
