(DDM) – Shock and grief have gripped King’s College, Lagos, following the mysterious death of one of its teachers, Mr. Ezekiel Akano, who was found lifeless inside a classroom over the weekend.

Diaspora Digital Media (DDM) gathered that the tragic discovery was made on Saturday evening, July 26, 2025, and immediately reported to the Lagos State Police Command by the school’s Vice Principal, Mr. Oguniyi Ayodele.

According to official police sources, the incident occurred within the historic school premises located at No. 3 Catholic Mission Street, Lagos Island.

The 48-year-old teacher, a native of Oyo State, was found unresponsive inside one of the classrooms where he had reportedly been working alone earlier in the day.

Authorities were alerted around 7:40 p.m., prompting the immediate deployment of detectives from the State Criminal Investigation Department.

Upon arrival, investigators cordoned off the area and carried out a detailed inspection of the scene.

Photographs of the body and surrounding area were taken, and initial assessments reportedly found no visible signs of violence or struggle on Mr. Akano’s body.

He was later conveyed to the Lagos Island General Hospital at Odan, where a medical officer confirmed him dead on arrival.

The deceased’s remains were subsequently deposited in the hospital’s morgue for preservation and autopsy.

The Lagos State Police Command has since launched a full-scale investigation to determine the exact cause of death.

Preliminary findings remain inconclusive as of press time, but law enforcement sources have assured the public that every effort is being made to rule out foul play.

News of the incident has left students, staff, and alumni of the prestigious King’s College in a state of mourning and confusion.

Colleagues of Mr. Akano described him as a committed educator who was well-liked by both students and staff.

A senior teacher who spoke anonymously expressed disbelief at the news, saying Mr. Akano had appeared healthy and cheerful earlier in the week.

“This is very painful. He was a quiet, dedicated man who loved teaching,” the teacher said.

The school management has not yet released an official statement but is said to be cooperating fully with investigators.

Mr. Akano’s family has been notified and is awaiting the outcome of the autopsy before making any public comment.

The incident has reignited conversations around the mental and physical health of educators in the country, many of whom work under significant stress without adequate support.

For now, the school community continues to grieve as the mystery surrounding Mr. Akano’s final moments deepens.
