Scores of terrorists have been eliminated by the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) airstrikes targeting their hideouts in the Giwa and Igabi local government areas of Kaduna State.
This was disclosed by the spokesman of the NAF, AVM Edward Gabkwet in a statement.
Gabkwet said that the air operations, which is part of Operation Whirl Stroke, have been ongoing with huge success despite weather challenges.
One of the strikes occurred on Friday at Alhaji Layi’s enclave in Kufan Shantu Village, Giwa local government area, where terrorists’ logistics concealed under thick foliage were destroyed.
Similar airstrikes were conducted on Saturday over terrorist camps in Malum Forest, Igabi Local Government Area, yielding positive outcomes.
Gabkwet reported that the Battle Damage Assessment footage showed terrorists loitering in the forest around a compound with zinc-roofed structures. A precision strike was then authorized, resulting in the elimination of most of the terrorists.
Meanwhile, Gabkwet’s statement underscores NAF’s continued efforts to diminish the capabilities of criminal elements in the North West, despite adverse weather conditions.
