The Chief Executive officer of Panic Alert Security System [PASS], Mr George Uboh has given himself a pat on the back after a Lagos High Court in ruling on Wednesday, July 5, 2017.
The court had ruled that the Federal Government must disclose names of looters and amounts looted, which must be published for the public’s consumption.
The presiding judge, Justice Shagari of Lagos High Court upheld the long-held view of George Uboh that names of looters and amounts looted must be disclosed publicly.
Moreover, Mr Uboh appeared on Channels TV on June 6, 2016 on the sunrise daily show and spoke on whether to “name or not name the looters”.
The two-part video clips can be found here: “You Don’t Collect Returned Loot Without Criminal Procedure — George Uboh Pt. 1”, and here: “You Don’t Collect Returned Loot Without Criminal Procedure — George Uboh Pt. 2”.
He had posited that looted funds must be handled via criminal procedure (not civil), hence the looters must be named, brought to books, inter alia.
Ironically, the self-styled “foremost whistle blower in Nigeria” was detained for 17 days after that show, while all his predictions on that show have come to past.
He, therefore, gave kudos to the Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project (SERAP) for filing the suit under Freedom of Information Act (FOIA).
