NDDC hails establishment of NDCCITMA

The Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) has thumbed up the establishment of the Niger Delta Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Trade, Mines and Agriculture (NDCCITMA).
At a sensitization workshop held in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, on Wednesday, Managing Director of the Commission, Dr Samuel Ogbuku hailed “NDCCITMA as a child borne out of sincere desire to find lasting solution to the challenges plaguing businesses in the Niger Delta Region.”
Dr Ogbuku, who was represented at the event by the Commissioner representing Akwa Ibom State in the NDDC, Apostle Abasiandikan Nkono, assured that “the NDDC is dedicated to bringing development to the people of the region through genuine processes of economically empowering them”, adding that “NDCCITMA will stand in the gap between NDDC and entrepreneurs, providing support to sustain businesses that cannot meet the stringent conditions of financial institutions.”
According to the MD, “the intention is to have NDCCITMA provide the long-sought support to sustain the businesses of those who cannot meet the stringent conditions of financial institutions.”
“The successful establishment of the Chambers of Commerce will complement the ongoing project HOPE and TFAD programs, carefully engineered to positively affect the lives of the people of the Niger Delta region.”
“Under the strategic partnership with NDCCITMA, there will be serious relief for the people of the Niger Delta region involved in entrepreneurship. The activities of the Chambers will positively influence development of robust transport systems, manufacturing, merchandising, mining, marine and food security for our families,” he added.
Dr. Ogbuku also promised that NDDC, through NDCCITMA, will establish a well-structured internship placement system that guarantees placement for young graduates when they leave school, a strategy aimed at fighting the unemployment epidemic.
The NDDC boss urged the National Association of Small and Medium Enterprises, formal and informal business communities, and individuals requiring financial support to register with NDCCITMA.
He further expressed confidence in the capacity of NDCCITMA’s board Chairman, Ambassador Idare Gogo Ogan, and the directors to bring hope to the people of the region.
Addressing Diaspora Digital Media Correspondent and other journalists after the event, Apostle Abasiandikan Nkono assured that the State Office of the NDDC in collaboration with NDCCITMA would ensure Akwa Ibom people are fully in the programme.
Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, and Deputy Governor Akon Eyakenyi, were duly represented at the event.
