NEMA Distributes Relief Materials to Rainstorm Victims in Ekiti

Ekiti State, Nigeria —The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has partnered with the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) and the Federal House of Representatives.

Together, they provided essential relief materials to victims affected by a recent rainstorm. This storm severely impacted several communities across the state.

Moreover, the intervention specifically targeted residents living in Ijero, Ekiti West, and Efon Local Government Areas.

By focusing on these areas, NEMA and SEMA aimed to address the urgent needs of the affected populations effectively.

The distributed items included essential food supplies like rice, garri, vegetable oil, seasoning cubes, spaghetti, salt, and tomato paste.

Consequently, these provisions aimed to alleviate the immediate challenges faced by disaster-affected individuals and families.

While representing NEMA’s Director-General, Mrs. Zubaida Umar, Mr. Adesina Abogunrin expressed deep sympathy for the victims.

He reassured them about the agency’s commitment to delivering timely disaster relief. Furthermore, he emphasized proactive measures to enhance resilience against weather-related disasters.

In addition, he highlighted the importance of preparedness and collaboration. These efforts aim to ensure communities effectively respond to future challenges.

During the distribution event, Mr. Abiodun Omoleye, a Member of the Federal House of Representatives, commended the Federal Government’s swift response.

He noted that these relief items would significantly mitigate the disaster’s impact on affected individuals and families.

In his address, the Ojurin of Ijurin, Oba Adeyemi Afolabi, expressed gratitude on behalf of the beneficiaries.

He acknowledged the efforts of NEMA and other government agencies in cushioning the adverse effects of the rainstorm on his community.

Oba Afolabi highlighted the importance of continued support and preparedness to address future emergencies.
