Uvwie LGA, Delta State – The Inspector General of Police (IGP), Kayode Egbetokun, inaugurated the Ugborikoko Divisional Headquarters on April 11, 2025, marking a transformative step for Delta State’s security.

Funded by Tantita Security Services Nigeria Ltd, this modern facility replaces outdated infrastructure, promising enhanced safety for Warri, Effurun, and neighboring communities.

Celebrations erupted in Ugborikoko as residents welcomed the project, symbolizing hope and collaboration.

The station’s design prioritizes efficiency, featuring a quarter guard post, generator house, and advanced drainage systems to curb environmental hazards.

Additionally, its redesigned police hall merges functionality with contemporary aesthetics, reflecting community-centric values.

Operational mobility received a significant boost with two new Hilux vehicles, enabling faster emergency responses.

To ensure uninterrupted power, a 30KVA solar system complements a soundproof generator, reducing reliance on unstable grids.

Cutting-edge CCTV cameras and computer systems further empower officers to monitor and combat crime proactively.

Beyond practicality, the facility includes air-conditioned offices, televisions, and a conference room to improve workflow and morale. High Chief Kestin Pondi, Tantita’s Managing Director, emphasized, “Security fuels progress—we’re proud to partner with those safeguarding our people.” His speech highlighted the necessity of unified efforts between citizens, police, and private entities.

Delta State’s Secretary to the Government, Dr. Kingsley Emu, representing Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, praised the initiative as a blueprint for grassroots development. Police Commissioner Olufemi Abaniwonda echoed this sentiment, stressing the station’s role in bridging trust gaps between law enforcement and civilians.

IGP Egbetokun lauded Tantita’s investment, calling it a “vote of confidence in Nigeria’s police force.” He affirmed the facility would become a hub for dialogue, training, and intelligence-sharing, directly benefiting local safety. Traditional rulers and religious leaders also endorsed the project, urging communities to protect the infrastructure.

The headquarters’ strategic location aims to deter criminal activity while providing a welcoming space for reporting crimes. By integrating technology and comfort, it addresses longstanding challenges like power shortages and inadequate equipment, which previously hindered operations.

Residents expressed optimism, recalling how delayed responses and poor facilities once eroded trust. “This station shows our lives matter,” shared a local trader. Youth leaders pledged to collaborate with officers, recognizing shared responsibility in curbing unrest.

Tantita’s involvement underscores the potential of public-private partnerships in tackling national issues. The company, renowned for safeguarding oil assets, redirected resources to community policing, setting a precedent for corporate social responsibility.

As the ceremony concluded, officers conducted tours, showcasing interrogation rooms and surveillance hubs. The IGP reaffirmed commitments to staff training, ensuring the tools translate to tangible security improvements.

Ultimately, the Ugborikoko project symbolizes progress through unity. By prioritizing both hardware and human relationships, Delta State charts a path toward sustainable peace, inspiring other regions to follow. This milestone proves that when communities and institutions collaborate, safety becomes a shared achievement
