Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, has pledged to pursue inclusive economic growth, sustained peace, and accelerated development across the state as residents step into the New Year with renewed expectations.
In his New Year message to Deltans, the governor said his administration would deepen policies that touch everyday life, stressing that development must reach all communities regardless of political affiliation, ethnicity, or social status.
Governor Oborevwori said the coming year presents an opportunity to consolidate gains recorded so far while addressing persistent challenges confronting the state, particularly unemployment, infrastructure gaps, insecurity, and youth empowerment.
He described peace as the foundation of development, noting that no meaningful progress can be achieved in an atmosphere of violence, division, or distrust.
According to him, his government remains committed to maintaining harmony across Delta State through dialogue, inclusiveness, and collaboration with traditional institutions, community leaders, security agencies, and civil society groups.
The governor reaffirmed that infrastructural renewal would remain a priority in the New Year, with ongoing and planned projects in roads, healthcare facilities, schools, and water supply expected to improve living standards and stimulate economic activities.
He said his administration would continue to invest in strategic infrastructure that supports trade, agriculture, and small businesses, particularly in riverine and previously underserved areas.
Governor Oborevwori emphasized that inclusive growth means creating opportunities for all, especially young people and women, whom he described as the backbone of the state’s future.
He pledged to strengthen skills acquisition programmes, support small and medium-scale enterprises, and expand access to credit for entrepreneurs as part of efforts to reduce poverty and boost productivity.
The governor also assured workers and retirees that his administration would continue to prioritize their welfare, describing them as critical partners in governance and service delivery.
He urged civil servants to remain dedicated and professional, assuring them that transparency and accountability would guide government actions in the New Year.
On security, Oborevwori said his government would intensify collaboration with federal security agencies and local stakeholders to safeguard lives and property, stressing that peace remains non-negotiable.
He called on residents to reject violence, criminality, and divisive rhetoric, urging communities to see themselves as partners in progress rather than rivals.
The governor appealed to political leaders, religious bodies, youths, and traditional rulers to promote unity and collective responsibility, saying the success of governance depends on shared commitment.
He acknowledged the resilience of Deltans in the face of economic pressures and national challenges, praising their patience and determination.
Governor Oborevwori concluded by expressing optimism that the New Year would bring greater stability, growth, and prosperity to Delta State.
