Nigerian leaders are converging in Daura, Katsina State, today to pay their last respects to former President Muhammadu Buhari, who passed away on Sunday, July 13, 2025, in London.
Buhari’s remains arrived in Nigeria early today and will be laid to rest in Daura, following Islamic traditions that require prompt burial after death.
The President is expected to travel to Daura to attend the funeral, although his exact schedule hasn’t been officially announced.
Shettima has been dispatched to London to accompany Buhari’s remains back to Nigeria and is expected to arrive with the body in the early hours of today.
