Share, Kwara State – April 17, 2025 – To strengthen national security, the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, Ph.D., NPM, inaugurated the Nigeria Police Intelligence School in Share, Kwara State, today.
This state-of-the-art facility will significantly improve the intelligence-gathering capabilities of the Nigeria Police Force.
Consequently, it will reinforce Nigeria’s overall security framework by training officers in advanced crime-fighting techniques.
During the ceremony, high-ranking officials, including Deputy Inspectors-General Benjamin Nebeolisa Okolo (Force Intelligence Department) and Adebola Ayinde Hamzat (Logistics and Supply), witnessed the historic event.
Additionally, Kwara State’s Commissioner of Police, CP Ojo Adekimi, and Hon. Abubakar Abdullahi Bata, representing Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrasaq, CON, attended.
Their presence underscored the collaborative effort between federal and state authorities in enhancing security infrastructure.
In his speech, IGP Egbetokun highlighted the school’s critical role in modernizing policing.
He explained, “This institution will train officers in intelligence analysis, cybercrime investigations, forensic science, and counter-terrorism.”
Furthermore, the school will admit personnel from other security agencies, promoting inter-agency cooperation.
By adopting a proactive, intelligence-led approach, the police aim to preempt criminal activities rather than react to them.
The IGP confirmed that operations would begin immediately, ensuring officers receive timely training to counter emerging threats.
Later, he delivered a lecture at Al-Hikmah University’s Centre for Peace and Security Studies.
Titled “Effective Policing of Nigeria for Sustainable Peace and Development: Role of Stakeholders,” his address emphasized continuous skill development and technological integration in policing.
He elaborated that comprehensive security extends beyond physical enforcement, encompassing economic, environmental, and food security.
Therefore, he urged stronger partnerships among law enforcement, academia, and communities.
Additionally, he encouraged citizens to support crime prevention by installing CCTV and adopting lawful surveillance technologies.
Ultimately, the school’s launch signifies Nigeria’s dedication to a safer, more secure future for all.
