The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) is set to graduate 1,296 recruits of the Basic Military Training Course 45/2024 in Kaduna on Saturday, marking the formal conclusion of their rigorous training.

DDM gathered that the Passing Out Parade will be held under the supervision of the Guest of Honour at the Beating of the Retreat, Air Vice Marshal Ahmad Shinkafi, who congratulated the recruits on reaching this critical milestone in their military careers.

Speaking during the ceremony, AVM Shinkafi highlighted that the training blended academic instruction with intensive outdoor exercises and tactical drills, incorporating contemporary asymmetric warfare techniques alongside technical skills vital for a modern air power service.

“This occasion not only celebrates your achievements but also recognises and rewards the hard work of squadrons and individuals who have distinguished themselves throughout this demanding training period,” Shinkafi said.

He emphasised the importance of discipline, character, and commitment as the recruits prepare to leave the training environment. “Your journey in the Nigerian Air Force is just beginning. Stay focused, uphold the standards that brought you this far, and always remember your loyalty to the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria,” he added.

One of the key highlights of the ceremony was the presentation of prizes to outstanding squadrons and individuals who excelled academically and in competitive activities, reflecting the Nigerian Air Force’s core principle of valuing excellence.

Shinkafi noted, “Excellence in performance leads to recognition and rewards. As members of the Nigerian Air Force, your commitment to these values is essential to effectively fulfilling our constitutional role of defending Nigeria’s national interests.”

He encouraged all recruits, including those who did not receive awards, to remain motivated. “Reaching this point in your training is already a significant accomplishment. Carry the values of the Military Training Centre into every aspect of your service,” he said.

The AVM also commended the leadership of the Military Training Centre and the efforts of the instructors who shaped the recruits into disciplined airmen and airwomen. “What we have witnessed today reflects the dedication of your instructors and the commitment to service excellence that underpins the Nigerian Air Force,” he said.

The event underscores NAF’s continued focus on producing highly trained, disciplined, and technically proficient personnel capable of defending Nigeria’s airspace and national interests.
