A Nigerian nurse simply identified as Miriam has reportedly been found dead in her apartment in Leeds, United Kingdom, shortly after returning from Nigeria, where she had gone for her wedding introduction.
The heartbreaking news was shared by fellow Nigerian nurse, Ibironke Khadeejah Quadri, on X.
According to Ibironke, Miriam had completed her last shift on Sunday and had not been heard from since.
Concerned by the silence, a friend raised the alarm and filed a missing persons report. Authorities later broke into Miriam’s apartment, where she was sadly discovered lifeless.
Reports indicate that Miriam had only just returned to the UK from Nigeria following her wedding introduction, but her fiancé had yet to join her.
“She hadn’t been heard from since her last shift. Her friend reported her missing, and police later found her dead in her apartment,” Ibironke wrote.
“She had just returned from Nigeria after her introduction ceremony. May her soul rest in peace.”
