Kwara United Football Club today, Sunday May 26, 2024, defeated Remo Stars 3-2 in the Matchday 33 encounter of the ongoing 2023-2024 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL), decided at the Main-Bowl of the State Stadium Complex, Ilorin.

Kwara United opener came few seconds into the game, contending as the fastest in goal in the ongoing NPFL.

The goal came through Wasiu Alalade, as defender Ejeh Isaiah nodded home the second off corner kick, in the 45th minutes.

Kwara United introduced Abubakar Garba in place of Sadeeq Yusuf in the beginning of the second half, as the team struggles to keep Remo Stars in check.

Coach Kabir Suleiman Dogo also introduced Obi Benard for Dehinde Ibrahim, and much later, the duo of Shola Abdulraheem and Adeniji Kabir were introduced for Afeez Musa and Wasiu Alalade respectively.

The changes put pressure on Remo Stars, who turned in Shola Abdulraheem’s pull out for an Own Goal, and the match seems to have been over, but Remo Stars rallies to score two goals within four minutes, in the 89th and 90+ minutes, to raise tension.

The Special Guest of Honour, Senator Sadiq Umar had earlier pledged a support of N100, 000 for every goal scored by Kwara United Football Club, to motivate the team in the must-win game.

He announced a donation of N1million naira to Bayour Issah and Jimoh Bashir, for the publication of a book, the history of Kwara United Football Club.

The Senator equally donated N500,000 to Kwara badminton players to support their transportation to training venue, following the ongoing renovation of the Indoor Sports Hall of the State Stadium Complex, Ilorin.
