Chidubem Nkeme, a high-achieving Nigerian student, has secured $85,000 in scholarships to study at four universities in the United States.

A graduate of Loral International School in Lagos, he finished with an impressive 4.95 GPA out of 5.00 in 2023.

His stellar academic performance extended to national examinations, where he scored 7As, 1B, and 1C in one sitting of the WASSCE and 8As, 1B in NECO. Beyond his national exam success, Chidubem also excelled in standardized tests, scoring 345/400 in JAMB, 1550 on the SAT, and an 8.5 band in IELTS.

After graduating from secondary school, he took a gap year to focus on university applications. His efforts paid off with multiple offers from U.S. institutions, each providing varying levels of funding.

Among the scholarships he received, the most significant was the Academic Excellence Scholarship (AES) from the University of Texas at Dallas, valued at $18,000 per year, which increased to $43,500 annually with an out-of-state tuition waiver.

He also received funding from the University of New Orleans, the University of Alabama’s Presidential Scholarship worth $28,000, and a $13,500 Presidential Out-of-State Tuition Waiver from the University of West Georgia.

After carefully evaluating his options, Chidubem chose the University of West Georgia to pursue a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing.
He found the school to be the best fit academically and financially, offering an affordable and well-structured four-year nursing program.

His journey to securing these scholarships was guided by hard work, strategic study techniques, and strong mentorship.

Reflecting on his success, Chidubem attributed his achievements to disciplined study habits, seeking help from teachers, and leveraging resources like Khan Academy for SAT preparation.
