The Leader of INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church, Primate Elijah Ayodele, has said prayers alone cannot solve Nigeria’s problems if the country continues to experience what he described as bad leadership.
Ayodele, in a statement by his media aide, Osho Oluwatosin, said Nigeria had yet to fully benefit from its independence, blaming poor leadership for economic hardship, hunger and stagnation.
He described the situation as an “independence of hardship and hunger”, accusing the government of spending more time complaining about the country’s challenges than providing solutions.
The cleric also criticised President Bola Tinubu’s administration, claiming that the President lacked the capacity to move the country forward.
“We are not fully independent. It’s an independence of stagnancy and hunger. Tinubu isn’t competent to be a president, so there is no way the people will enjoy independence,” he said.
Ayodele also called for the restructuring of Nigeria, which he described as necessary for the country to achieve what he termed genuine independence.
He criticised the Muslim-Muslim presidential ticket and argued that Nigerians were not enjoying sufficient freedom.
“There is no amount of prayers that can help us if we have bad leadership; our independence has been commercialised and sabotaged. This is a country with no plans for the younger generation,” he said.
The cleric further accused the government of being selfish and poorly organised, saying this had contributed to the country’s continued economic and social challenges.
