Nortra Tractor Assembly Plant kickstarts in Enugu
The Enugu State Governor, Mr. Peter Mbah, has on October 22, 2024, unveiled the Nortra Tractor Assembly Plant and Service Centre in Enugu, considered as a significant investment by ODK Group of Denmark to Enugu residents.
Diaspora Digital Media (DDM) was informed that the construction of the Nortra Tractor Plant and Service Centre was a significant step towards the Governor’s administration’s vision to grow the state’s economy from $4.4 billion to $30 billion.
Governor Mbah stated that this project aims to make Enugu a premier destination for investors and create opportunities for economic growth and employment.
He went further to announce the plans to produce tractors for farming in the state before the end of the year.
This initiative is part of his administration’s effort to grow the state’s economy and ensure food security.
The governor disclosed this when he received the newly elected president of the Nigeria Employers’ Consultative Association (NECA), Dr. Ifeanyi Okoye, during the weekend.
Dr. Okoye was accompanied by other leaders of the association to the Government House in Enugu.
He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to creating a business-friendly environment and helping to de-risk investment in the state.
He called on investors to key into the growing investment revolution in the state.
“Dream of having at least 1,000 [Nortra] tractors in Enugu”
The governor relished his dream of having at least 1,000 tractors in Enugu, hopefully from the Nortra Tractor Plant.
He announced: “What we have gathered here to do today [unveiling of Nortra Tractor Assembly Plant] is not a mere symbolic act.
“It is certainly an act that takes us closer to the dream of having at least 1,000 tractors in Enugu State by next year.
“We are ready for business, and we are open for business. You could not make a better choice than Enugu.
“Think Enugu when you are thinking about where to invest or where to grow your wealth because you are dealing with a government that is business friendly.
“We do not only think about creating the environment for businesses to thrive,” the Governor said.
He further stated: “We are also interested in working with you collaboratively either as a Joint Venture (JV) or Private Public Partnership (PPP) or even helping you to de-risk the investment flow.
“To the investors, businessmen and women we are interested in listening to your needs and foster a supportive ecosystem for your success,” he added.
“We have just signed an order with a Danish company that is coming here to manufacture their tractors.
“However, our target is that before the end of the year, we would have been able to assemble over 300 tractors.
“Our goal is to have 1,000 tractors up and running within the next year.
“You do not have to import the machinery and the implements you need to be able to farm in Enugu State.
“We are ready for business, and we are open for business.
“You could not make a better choice than Enugu when you are thinking about where to invest or where to grow your wealth,” he stated.
Mbah told the public that the government of Enugu is a government that is business-friendly and do not only think about creating the environment for businesses to thrive alone.
The government also claimed to be interested in working with the masses cooperatively.
Again, Mbah said: “We are interested in adding value and processing too.
“We are building a Special Processing Zone where people are expected to plan to scale up our production in the agricultural space”, he added.
Mr. Mbah further stated that his utmost goal as regards to roads, is to make sure that all streets, all roads in the city are paved.
“Just recently, we completed the 71 roads were awarded last October and we again awarded another 141 roads.
“We are also making sure that we also get our rural roads paved, most importantly the access road to the farmlands.
“We have some ambitious target in our agricultural sector where we now have over 300,000 hectares of land in our landbank,” he said.
