Former Deputy Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Obong Nsima Ekere, has thrown his weight behind Governor Umo Eno’s recent directive for simultaneous party meetings across Akwa Ibom State, describing it as a strategic move that further strengthens the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Ekere, in an interview with our correspondent on Thursday, said the governor’s approval of the grassroots engagement demonstrated “exceptional leadership and political wisdom.”

“The decision to return to the grassroots through simultaneous meetings across all 31 local government areas is a masterstroke that will undoubtedly reinvigorate our party structure and boost our chances in future elections,” Ekere stated.

He emphasized that the move would help consolidate the party’s presence across the state, saying: “This is precisely what we need to unite our members and strengthen our base. The governor has shown remarkable vision in initiating this crucial engagement at the ward and local government levels.”

The 2019 governorship candidate of the APC in the State urged all party faithful to actively participate in Saturday’s meetings, noting that “such grassroots engagement is vital for building a strong, united party that can deliver on its promises to the people.”

The party, in a statement issued by State Chairman, Obong Stephen Ntukekpo, had earlier announced that the meetings would hold simultaneously on Saturday across all 31 local government areas as part of efforts to strengthen its structures in line with Governor Eno’s ARISE Agenda.

The meetings will hold by 2:00pm in respective Local Government Council Secretariats across the State.
