Former Secretary to the Anambra State Government, Chief Oseloka H. Obaze (Owelle), and a recognised political stakeholder in Anambra State, yesterday played host to the governorship candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Mr. John Chuma Nwosu, at Camp AC, his country home in Ochuche, Umuodu in Ogbaru Local Government Area.
During the visit, Chief Obaze openly declared his support for Nwosu’s candidacy ahead of the November 8, 2025, election.
The meeting was attended by top ADC leaders, members of the candidate’s campaign team, and political stakeholders in Ogbaru.
Stakeholders described it as a major boost for the ADC as the election campaign enters its final phase.
Although not currently affiliated with any political party, Chief Obaze’s public endorsement of Mr. Nwosu was hailed by political observers as an act of rare courage and statesmanship.
Speaking after the visit, Nwosu expressed deep appreciation to Obaze for what he described as an unambiguous show of friendship and loyalty.
He said that despite not being a member of ADC or any other political party presently, Obaze’s friendship, unalloyed support, and camaraderie are highly valued.
He described the endorsement as a high mark of courage, loyalty, frankness, and true friendship, adding that he remains deeply indebted to him.
Nwosu commended Obaze’s unwavering commitment to the Ogbaru community, noting that the warm reception from residents reflected the respect and admiration they hold for him.
He also used the occasion to urge the Anambra elite and their followers to put the state’s interest above personal or partisan considerations as the polls approach.
He said the people must rise above transactional politics that undermines the sustainable development of Anambra State and encouraged voters to support the ADC as the credible alternative.
Political analysts believe that Obaze’s endorsement may further strengthen ADC’s chances in Ogbaru and adjoining local government areas, as the momentum continues to build around Nwosu’s campaign.
On his part, Obaze, while speaking to his guests, said that he knew the other governorship contenders well, either as friends or acquaintances.
He wished them well.
However, he said he was endorsing Nwosu since he placed a higher priority on the interests and needs of Anambra State in general and the Ogbaru community in particular.
He Noted that the succeeding governments had been unkind to Ogbaru community.
He said what Anambra needed, was a competent leader who had the “capacity, competence, compassion, empathy, the fear of God and above all, respect for the rule of law.”
Obaze also announced his endorsement of John Chuma Nwosu of ADC on his X handle, which he personally signed.
